Nice story. However, Purple have been teasing the deaf population for too long to point many are too tired and disillusioned in being misled for too long.
Even if evidence is visible such as was the case on your part this scheme amounts to vaporware because this has gone on for too long.
When Purple spews VPAD onto the masses the feeling should be anything but anti-climatic on part of many.
I'm still waiting on Purple, too. Although your experience could be duplicated by people having sidekicks or blackberries, a MVP would be nicer.
There is confusion regarding the portable devices because some need a net card, some don't, and apparently the MVP doesn't, but I have no knowledge if this is true.
The delay of information and when I can obtain one is also frustrating. I don't know whether to buy one of the other units or wait for the MVP. This is not too reassuring, especially if there is a pyramid scheme involved where the people who make the most referrals gets the MVP first.
And heres the thing....given the HOVRS' demands that we use their service very frequently (which I suspect is a violation of some law) in order to be queued to get the MVP, it will be 10,000 years before I get my hands on one because I dont use relay services that much.
And Anonymous is right...Purple has been teasing us too much too long and also had given statements (as evidenced in other vlogs posted by HOVRS) that their device is better than VPAD and others based on empty evidence all while the MVPs were not given out to us to examine and get the feeling of.
That is why I had put in the order of the VPAD PLUS even if I really want that mystical and imaginative MVP that is out of reach of masses of the deaf.
@2nd anon(Joseph): Can you please point out the HOVRS' sources that clearly state that MVP is better than VPad? I'd like to see and make my own opinion.
A lot of you are right that Purple had been teasing us for a couple of years. Viable is already selling their VPAD+ and CSDVRS - oh wow - they are now distributing their Z products known as Z-340. One of my friends already got one and I am anxious to get one. CSDVRS announced last summer at NAD conference only 5-6 months later, Z-340 is already out. Purple - what? announce when - 2 or 3 years ago and where is it. Purple already lost me as their loyal customer - sorry!

How did you hook up to the wireless router? Was it non-secure? Or did you have a 3G card in the USB slot (MVP has an USB slot or pcmica slot?)??

@Anon: Purple doesn't want to give out the MVP that isn't ready! They are doing a lot of improvement! I have seen the changes since I first got it!

@Dianerez: The MVP doesn't have the "Cell-phone" capabilities. It's like a laptop that looks for wi-fi hot spots.
I know that it is very difficult to get the information. I am in dark like you.
